We speak/read/write English every day, however, the speakers of other languages must have one heck of a time learning how to speak English due to so many words sound alike, are spelled differently,or spelled the same, and have different meanings entirely.
How about: The man began to whine about his wine as he began to wind his rope in the wind.
or
Two men went to the store to get food and some drinks, too.
English is actually one of the easiest languages I’ve ever learned (I speak 5 of them).
I guess most of this can be understood easily once you master the gerunds. English native speakers have this thing about saying English is one of the hardest languages to learn. I guess it makes them feel better for having such a grammatically and lexicographically poor language.
English is actually one of the easiest languages to learn. For example, the fact that a word can become either noun, verb or adjective reduces dramatically the amount of words you have to memorize.
I know a bunch of languages myself and I can tell you, English is not easy,
It’s easy to get started with. I can give you that. Basic grammar is relatively simple, which makes it easy to learn enough English to have a basic conversation or reading a newspaper. BUT if you want to learn to speak really good English, it’s going to be tricky. English has lots of words meaning the same thing, and lots of words that can mean multiple things, and that’s only one of the problems. I could go on but a comment isn’t the right place for such a treaty.
